Easter is Coming and Farmers Market

I worked at a booth last Sunday at our Local Farmers Market- I was making newspaper pots with kids, letting them fill them with soil and seeds to take home with them..
I love the Market- all that local produce and friendly people- they were preparing for Easter, so I posed with a bunny...

Kids and Sticks at the Beach

There are few beaches that have drift wood on the beach on Oahu- or at least that I have seen. I went to a beach on the Island Friday, that was covered with them...

What was fascinating to me was how all the kids on the beach were all playing with the drift wood sticks on the sand- in various ways- banging them for noise, sword fighting, digging in the sand, using them like a knife, pounding them like a musical instrument...

Regardless, it is great to be outdoors and seeing kids using their imaginations ...!

Whale Season

One of the greatest shows and joys of living here, are the amazing sea life creatures I see- some, on a pretty regular and up close and personal way- Sea Turtles, Monk Seals and Whales...

I often can see them spout, and sometimes jump or swim on the top of the water- but to capture one leaping out of the water on film, has eluded me- until Friday- when I finally go my first tail shot....!!! I still can not believe I was able to do it...

My Birthday

I learned a long time ago, that you can not expect others to " make" your Birthday Special- if that is the so called intention-
You have to do it yourself !!!
I had heard that you could go to Sea Life Park on your Birthday and swim with the dolphins- for no charge- as soon as I heard that- I booked my day...Since living in Hawaii I had heard of this program, and always wanted to get in the water with the dolphins..so I could not let this opportunity go by- I am a Pisces- so water and I go together...
Dave ordered me a surprise Mermaid Cake- which I of course loved...
I was very excited to get in the water with the dolphins, and although I would had preferred to be alone with the trainer and not in a group- it was everything I thought it would be-
The highlite being...a kiss from the dolphin !!! Great way to bring in another year.....!!

Seeing another Island

It has been a while since I have posted...I just need to make this part of my day- to get it out there. Otherwise- it seems to never happen.

In February we went to see friends staying on the Island of Kauai- we went for about four days, and it was a real treat. I love exploring new places and seeing new things.

We saw a crater, some beautiful beaches and shore lines, a lighthouse, whales, caves, old historical towns and enjoyed our friend's company- we had a lovely dinner out for Valentines Day- and Dave and I watched their children while they attended a time share presentation. We bought crafts for them, so they could make their parents valentines, and helped them bake some cookies-One of my favorite things that we saw was a very old church- the oldest Catholic church on the Island- and it's ruins of another building and an old cemetary. We also saw a rope bridge- that I loved...wow- it was a really fun weekend- I want to go back again....
